Last item on World Cup
Geez, for a guy who professes to not know much about soccer (definitely true) and not even like it (I'm starting to doubt that), I'm sure posting a fair bit about it. It is one of the world's biggest spectacles after all :-)
Word is that Marco Materazzi either called Zidane the "son of a terrorist whore" or wished "an ugly death to you and your family" on the day the Frenchman's mother had been taken to hospital ill. After also watching a compilation of some of Materazzi's more flagrant fouls over the years, it's kind of tough not to understand. I've also read Zidane's no angel. He's got 14 red cards in his career. So while it might be understandable, it's still inexcusable, especially considering the timing.
If only Zizou had scored on that header minutes earlier. Then he could have just told Materazzi to look at the scoreboard.
