Scrapers, Splogs and Linkfarms
I got a bit more insight into the Google is Killing the Internet meme this weekend.
I noticed my basement has been quite damp lately with the heat. I've got a portable dehumidifier, but I hesitate to run it on hot days, as it vents back into the air and raises the overall temperature of the house. I was wondering if perhaps there was an accessory to vent the exhaust outside.
I took note of the make and model number (the memorable "fedders a7dh45b2a", and headed upstairs to consult google.
It seems like the more specific the search, the worse the results when it comes to this stuff, as i was directed to the "totally legitimate" subdomain of:
fedders-a7dh45b2a-dehumidifier.bayonhotel.com
for a good chunk of my results.
This in turn links to the "search engine" http://www.findin.org/ who are clearly gaming google in a big fat way. How do these guys even know to subdomain something so obscure?
